Under the Public Health Act , the primary mandate of the Direction de la santé publique de l’Outaouais (Outaouais Public Health Department (OPHD)) is ensuring “the protection of the public’s health and the implementation of conditions that facilitate the maintenance and improvement of their health and well-being”, hence the term “public health”.
The OPHD is also responsible for implementing the actions and measures stated in
the National Public Health Program .
The OPHD has also developed its own Regional Public Health Action Plan:
